Honoring the Record of Bahman Maghsoudlou

On Sunday evening September 23,2018, five cultural and artistical organization honored almost fifty years record of Bahman Maghsoudlou in Toronto, Canada. Hassan Zerehi the editor-in-chief of prestigious magazine Shahrvand, Saeed Hariri (Toronto book Club), Amir Mahim (Opposite Windows ,TV program), Aref Mohammadi (New Wave Artistic Group) and Said Chooback (The Morning House Publication) all worked hard with passion and love and enjoyed the full support of Amid Neinei a distinguish cultured writer/journalist who initiated this program, to held the program at its best at the grand hall of Cyrus Foundation.
Hassan Zerehi talked about how the tradition of praising artists while they are alive is good and how it began it stablished in Toronto in 2005 by having a special night for Dr. Reza Barahani, a prominent Poet/writer and Literary critic.
“To Look at the record of Bahman Maghsoudlou” program began with a 25 minutes film about Iranian cinema in the thirty with remembering Vida Ghahremani and Naser Malek Motii two super star of Iranian Cinema that start ed their career in early 30’s and passed away in 2018.
Maghsoudlou talked briefly about why Iranian Cinema in the 1330’S (1950’S) could not fly and establish proper commercial and artistic cinema. Then a 15 minutes film by Farhang khosravani about his career were screened that received well.
Mr. Zerehi who was the emcee of the night, then called the sponsors to talk about Maghsoudlou life achievement and their relationship with him plus reading parts of various statements of his friends from all over the world in between.
Bahram Bahrami, writer/translator/poet was the first who talked about his almost fifty years friendship with Maghsoudlou and praised his Book Grass: Untold Stories. He was the first who reviewed the English version when published in USA in 2008. Aref Mohammadi, filmmaker /critic praised Maghsoudlou as the third generation of Iranian film critic and his impact on cineaste and film criticism in Iran.
Saeed Hariri spoke importance of Maghsoudlou Iranian Renown Artist documentaries series and praise it for the selection of the artists. Nezam Kiaie, the distinguish international sound recorder and winner of various prizes who was the neighbor and close friend of Maghsoudlou took the microphone and talked about his memory of Maghsoudlou home and its open-door policy for friends a family to come and stay and leave. He also maghsoudlou was a mathematician and chess champion and how made two programs in national Iranian Radio and Television about Alien with professor Hashtroudi.
His memories not only entertain the audiences but made them laugh and made the night memorable.
Between the sponsors talk the emcee read a selected part from various statements by Maghsoudlou friends and colleagues around the world, among them, Ms. Mehrangiz kar, Esmail Nooriala, Gholamhossein Nami, Farhang Farrahi and F.M. Sokhan.
The last person was Amir Mahim who talked about two films Maghsoudlou produced with his close friend Maestro Anthony Quinn and read his poem titled “My Alter Ego’ and dedicated to Maghsoudlou plus a beautiful painting of his resent works called Razor’s Edge.
Mr. Ali Ehsassi the member of federal parliament brought the official honorary diploma from Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada to give to Mr. Maghsoudlou for his good works but had to leave due his conflict of schedule and had to leave it Mr. Mahim who did it gracefully at the end of the program.
